harvest

NYC Tal and Anita's Wedding-2005

I love this time of year.  I love the colors, the bounty of the earth, apple picking, the crisp air.  I love all the ripe goodness that’s overflowing in my garden.  The yummy fall food.  The crunching leaves.

However, I hate it that it all happens at the same time.  So much to pick and freeze and sauce and can and enjoy…..so many awesome butternut squash and pumpkin recipes to make….so many holidays to anticipate and get ready for…..and on top of it all, the busiest season for a photographer….everyone rushing for holiday cards.

I wish i could spread some of these glorious things into the winter….speckle them through the long dreary February and March when there’s not much to do but try to stay warm and sane.

I guess for now, I just need to enjoy and harvest what I can…..and let a lot of the tomatoes rot on the vine.

I guess that’s life.  When it rains it pours.  The trick is to figure out how to catch some of the rain and enjoy it and not worry about the drops that get wasted….and to look for the rainbows, of course.
