It’s about time I wrap up the summer (though from the pile of drafts in my box it looks as if it might still take some serious time). Hopefully, now that school is in full force and Emmeline is actually gone a few mornings a week I can have a bit of uninterrupted time to post pictures from summer adventures that got swept aside with all the business.
Summer was wonderful, it was also incredibly busy. I wish I could have had a little more time to sit and anticipate and reflect. As it was, one fun thing after another, it was hard to drink everything in and appreciate. I’m hoping that blogging about all these events will help me glean a little more joy from them, since living through them was kind of a blur.
At the beginning of the summer we were ambitious (to put it mildly). We made our lists, goals for what we wanted to do individually and together as a family. As you can see, we didn’t really make it through a lot of what we hoped to do, and it was still packed. I kind of have a feeling I’m rubbing off on my kids….super ambitious, but unable to discern what is really doable in a given amount of time. I guess we’re all learning together. My kids did do a little better than it appears on these charts, we’re all just super lazy about checking things off.
So, I’m going to try to post one summer adventure a day until I’m through them all. I want to live in the present more and blog in the present more.
It's so fun for me to read through those lists and sense the determination that filled their minds when the summer was new. I can't help but think that those lists thinking "yes, I just know I am capable of accomplishing all of this!" And that is great.
