happy thanksgiving

plain thanksgiving blessings 2011back normal day

“Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.”                    ― Mary Jean Iron

This year we’re grateful for our normal days.  Even for the mundane.  Especially since we’ve had a very normal day today (more on that later).

I love love love this quote and am trying to remind myself how glorious our normal every days are and how much I’ll long for these days one day.

Yes,  I will long for these days full of laundry and whining and messes and chaos.  For, if I stop, press pause and grasp the moments I see that they are also chock full of love. Crystals are floating all around us in the air (along with all that dust).

Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Saydi - we LOVED your card. Always do. Doug asked if you moved into a new house (while viewing the front of your card). I said, "if that's there new house, we're moving in with them!" ;) I looked at each tiny square photo, remembered certain blog posts, took in the joy of your family life. Thanks for being such an inspiration. You're the perfect balance of ideal, poetic, and real. Glad you had a glorious Thanksgiving day, despite the up-chucking. Love you.

  3. That gorgeous card was the first to go up on the fridge for the season! LOVE the poem....exquisite! Where do you find the great poems? You are a truly a fine-poem woman! Loved the collage as well. So may beautiful ordinary days!
