on obedience and honesty

Mom: Charlie, I'll let you play with PlayDou, but don't mix the colors, OK?
Charlie: Oh, I wouldn't
Charlie: (coming in to me while I'm working on the computer) will you open this one?
Mom: sure, but Charlie, please don't mix the colors, ok?
Charlie: oh mom, I wouldn't
repeat ten times....each time with complete reassurance from Charlie that he would never mix the colors.
Charlie's not one for obedience or honesty yet. But he sure is sweet in his disobedient dishonesty.

Hazel, on the other hand, is our rule follower. She is always very concerned about making sure that she understands the rules and that everyone else does too. When she is disobedient it is in pure defiance....she doesn't pretend to be doing everything right. I guess, in a weird convoluted way, that's something I like about little Haze.

I love these kids, but I don't love PlayDou. Luckily the kids like mixed up colors and it's cheap. Sadly the carpet it gets ground into isn't.
