sweet joyce

One of the greatest blessings in our lives right now is our sweet neighbor Joyce. She lives just down the street from us and is a member of our church congregation. My kids LOVE her as do I. She is so easy to be around and is really like a third grandmother to our family. She is one of those people who you just want to give to because she is so gracious and thankful and gives back so much. She really brightens our lives.
A few weeks ago she came over to our house for a little birthday party. Look at her glow. I loved how seriously she took her wish making. Oh, I love this lady.

For the past two months she has been coming over weekly to "mentor" Hazel. I think it's Hazel's favorite part of the week. They sit together at the dinning room table for a good hour and a half. Hazel has her UNDIVIDED attention (which sadly she rarely gets from me) and Joyce teaches her all kinds of things. They do crafts, or paint, or work through activity coloring books. Poor Charlie watches longing....hoping to have the same type of "mentor." I've been trying to take him on little dates or read with him during this time so that he doesn't get too jealous.

We are so thankful for Joyce.

  1. What a wonderful blessing! It makes me want to come and mentor Charlie. We miss you guys! :)

  2. Thank you for that post, Saydi! It is so great to see Joyce; it made me cry! She is truly one of the most giving and Christlike people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Please tell her Hi and give her a big hug for me! We miss you guys!

  3. Oh that Joyce sure is a gem...but you guys are even more gems that you take such darn great care of her too. I love to watch you and Jeff with her. You guys are the best. Love ya.

  4. Okay this is just the cutest thing ever! You guys take such good care of this lovely person and it sounds as though she's giving back mega! Tell here that we love her too! Hazel...you lucky girl!

  5. I believed I screamed out loud, "it's Joyce." Like Trish, thank you for that post, I offten wonder about her and a few others in the ward. She is so sweet, and I am glad your children have the oppurtunity to spend time with her..I'd like to know if she's still in school, or how her son is..Please tell her Hello as well! We miss B-town too!

  6. hazel can converse for an hour and a half if there are no crafts to be done i'll bet.
