Apple Picking at Brooksby farms always starts off my favorite part of the year – the crisp-brilliant-fall-Halloween-thanksgiving-Christmas-coco-first snow-fire-festivities-packed season from September-December. I love this time of year. Especially in Boston. I made a goal to visit Brooksby Farms 3 times this fall….I’ve been twice. It’s one of my favorite places on earth. I love it for it’s beauty and because it speaks fall into my bones, but mostly I love it because it’s packed with memories of years gone by. We’ve been going there since Charlie and Hazel were just little guys and in those long rows of trees I can almost see there littler selves, squealing and delighted by the big open places, the apples to eat and throw and the green to take in. Ghosts of their little selves are still perched on books, lost in other worlds. We invited a few friends to come along this year, and it was fantastic.I love these two, they both live in Anne of Green Gables worlds in their heads.Peter was especially delighted by the idea that he could walk around and pick up and eat all the apples he wanted to. Ezra showed him how to put an apple in his overall pocket and boy was he delighted when he finally got it back out of there. Look at this progression of pictures, I love them.
Thank you Brooksby Farms for being a keeper of our traditions. For bottling up our memories in your lush green rows.
